Fishing in Pine Island SoundThe attached pic is of me and my dad on his boat while fishing in Pine Island Sound near Ft. Myers, FL. We were drift fishing in about 6' to 8' over grass beds on the north side of Pine Island and catching seatrout on live shrimp and shrimp fly imitations. The one in the pic was caught on the fly rod using your brother's floats. They worked great. I put a little split shot above the shrimp to help it get down and was able to see the float well and easily detect the hits. The fish in the pic was about 20" and one of the better ones caught that day. We fished from about 7:30 until 1pm or so. Total caught between 3 anglers was about 25. It was a great day. Average length was about 14-15" with the biggest going 22". I caught the 22" on a topwater popper next to some mangroves. It was awesome and put up a great fight on my 6' medium action spinning rod. Well I guess that's all for now. Talk to you again soon. Bryon |
