Step

Tying Instruction

1

Start thread behind eye and wrap thread base to mid shank.

Tie in body material above the hook point as an extended body. Minimum length equals hook gape length. Note: Use flame to taper body before tying in.

Tie in wing at mid-shank

Tie in hackle at mid-shank.

Wrap thread to 2 eye lengths behind hook eye.

Wrap hackle to 2 eye lengths behind hook eye.

Whip-finish with minimum number of wraps.

Trim wing to length and shape.

Trim a “V” in the hackle on the bottom to float lower in the surface film.

10

Optional; Dip the body tip (egg sack) in fluorescent pink/orange fabric paint.

 

Notes:

This pattern can be used as a Caddis or Stonefly.
