Step | Tying Instruction |
1 | Start thread behind eye and wrap thread base to mid shank. |
2 | Tie in body material above the hook point as an extended body. Minimum length equals hook gape length. Note: Use flame to taper body before tying in. |
3 | Tie in wing at mid-shank |
4 | Tie in hackle at mid-shank. |
5 | Wrap thread to 2 eye lengths behind hook eye. |
6 | Wrap hackle to 2 eye lengths behind hook eye. |
7 | Whip-finish with minimum number of wraps. |
8 | Trim wing to length and shape. |
9 | Trim a “V” in the hackle on the bottom to float lower in the surface film. |
10 | Optional; Dip the body tip (egg sack) in fluorescent pink/orange fabric paint. |
Notes:
This pattern can be used as a Caddis or Stonefly.
